Ladakh – A Journey To Moonland

Duration – 09 Nights /10 Days

Day 1: Arrival Srinagar

Arrive Srinagar the summer capital of Kashmir. The city of lakes and historical monuments. In Srinagar, you will be staying in a deluxe class houseboat, which is akin to a five-star hotel room. After lunch you commence your sight-seeing activities with the glorious past of Kashmir visiting the famous Mughal gardens. Shalimar (Abode of Love) built by Jahangir for his beloved queen Nur Jahan in 1616. The garden has four terraces and the fourth terrace was once reserved for royal ladies. Nishat (The Garden of Pleasure) built by Asif khan for his sister Nur Jahan in 1633. The garden commands magnificent view of the lake. Chashma-iShahi (Royal Spring) was laid by Shah Jehan in 1632. It is famous for the spring of refreshing digestive mineral water. Dinner and overnight at Houseboat.

Day 2: Srinagar- Gulmarg - Srinagar

After morning breakfast drive to Gulmarg, the famous “Meadow of Flowers” at  2730 meters, with an unhindered view of Nanga Parbhat which at 8137 meters is one of the world’s highest peaks. Gulmarg has one of the best Ski slopes and  highest golf course of the world with 18 holes. One can have Gondola cable car ride (At your own cost) from Gulmarg to Affarwat/ Kungdooru. Afternoon return back to Srinagar. Dinner and overnight at Houseboat.

Day 03: Srinagar - Kargil

After breakfast drive to Kargil via Sonamarg, Zoji- la pass (11,400fts) and Drass (3230 mts) the second coldest inhabited place in the world. Arrive Kargil in evening and check-in hotel. Dinner and overnight at Hotel

Day 04: Kargil - Leh

After breakfast drive to Leh via Mulbek over the Fatu la pass 13,400 feet (the highest pass on Srinagar – leh route) and monastery of Lamayuru, which is one of the oldest in Ladakh. Arrive Leh and Check-in hotel. Explore market in evening. Dinner and overnight at Hotel

Day 05: Leh -Thikse - Shey - Hemis - Leh

After breakfast, day excursion to Shey, Thikse and Hemis monasteries. Shey was the summer palace of Ladakhi kings and here you will see the 36 feet high statue of Buddha made of copper and covered in gold leaf. The twelve storied monastery of Thikse is situated in the most prominent of positions it lies on an Island mountain. Finally, visit Hemis Monastery, furthest away from Leh, this is the wealthiest and largest monastery in ladakh belonging to the red sect. It is  here each summer that plays are held and ladakhis from all parts of the country visit Hemis. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 06: Leh - Hunder (Nubra Valley)

After breakfast drive to Nubra valley through world’s highest motor able road Khardung-la (18,830 feet). Khardung-la is gateway to Nubra Valley enroute have a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains which includes Parcha Khangri, Stok Khangri. Afterwards get back to hotel/camp as the delicious dinner waits. Overnight at the hotel/camp in Nubra valley.

Day 07: Hunder - Leh

After breakfast visit sand dunes at Hunder to enjoy a camel safari (optional). Afternoon drive back to leh visiting Diskit village. Dinner and overnight at Hote

Day 08: Leh - Pangong Lake

After breakfast drive to Pangong lake, the highest salt lake in the world at an altitude 14,500 feet through Changla Pass 17,350 feet. Arrive Pangong lake and Check-in Camp. Rest of time free-. Dinner and overnight at Camp

Day 09: Pangong Lake - Leh

After breakfast explore the Pangong Lake. Afternoon drive back to Leh. Dinner and overnight at Hotel

Day 10: Leh - Onward Destination

After breakfast transfer to the Airport for flight to Delhi
